EDITORS' CODE OF PRACTICE COMMITTEE | THE CODEBOOK |
|||
| The Editors' Codebook is the official handbook that sets the Editors' Code in context. It brings together the Code and the case-law developed through years of PCC adjudications. By matching the cases to the rules it provides a unique guide to how the Code works in practice.
It was first published in 2005 jointly by the trade associations that fund self-regulation of the press in Britain - the Newspaper Publishers Association, representing national newspapers, the Newspaper Society, for the regional press, the Periodical Publishers Association, representing the magazine industry, the Scottish Newspaper
Publishers Associatiion, representing local newspapers.
The Codebook has been updated to reflect Code changes since 2005 and can be viewed online, it is downloadable in pdf format. The Codebook is written by Code Committee Secretary Ian Beales, a former regional daily newspaper editor, and revised regularly to keep abreast of developing case-law.
